In fact, if you look at Peltz’s blog, you’ll see he’s quite the artist.  There are other Star Wars renderings as well as a varied collection of other works.  Too bad he uses Blogspot (terrible); he should be using WordPress, like ME.

The GhostBusters League of S.T.E.A.M. commercial is an intelligent recreation of a 1980’s movie in the 1880’s Victorian style.  Normally, I would make fun of this kind of thing, but I can tell that these guys put a lot of work into this.  Plus I wouldn’t want to make fun and then have real ghosts show up; that would just be embarassing…

Aqua is a stylish steampunk naval-action shooter for Xbox LIVE Arcade. The game is driven by an entertaining story-campaign with beautiful hand-drawn comics and features a unique, distinctive neo-Victorian art-style. Steer your ship into the middle of a raging naval war, where masses of enemies and allies engage in real-time operations over large, multi-screen maps. Equip your ship, choose your tactics and form your own special squadron to support you in battle, issuing offensive and defensive orders to overcome huge fleets of enemy s hips, submarines, airplanes and defensive installations.

Aqua is a good deal at 800 Microsoft Credits, or $9.99.  While it’s not as intense a game as Toy Soldiers, nor as mind bending as Portal, it’s easy and fun.  The story line and plot are straight forward, and the voice acting makes me feel like the game is aimed towards pre-teens, but I don’t care.  It’s nice to have a milder kind of game to play.  I give it 3 out of 5 stars.  The good news is that like any XBLA game, you can download the trial version and try it for free.

It’s a very nice exhibition with an excellent explanation of what SteamPunk is.  If you’re new to SteamPunk, or have friends that are, this is an excellent video to start with.

Not bad.  Really pretty good, and I even like the telegraph.  But green phosphor CRT’s instead of LCD’s would have impressed me more.  And vacuum tubes instead of integrated circuits would have really impressed me.

I’m in…  However, despite my clear and obvious motivations, I would like to continuing discussing what makes Doctor Steel such an interesting individual.

Doctor Steel communicates his ideology to the masses by entertaining them through various media such as music, shows, and live performances.  His ideology is simple and pure.  He wants to make the world a better place.  A place where everyone can have fun free from fear, oppression, and other negative worldly concerns.  A place he calls a “Utopian Playland”.  To do this, he needs our help.  Help, and some money.  Part of his plan to cure the world of its ills is to enlist the aid of about 12-million robots armed with lasers and flying saucers.  And why not?  Everybody likes robots (except Geekologie Writer)

I’ve listened to his music, and it’s quite good.  I’ve watched the shows, and their very entertaining.  I’ve seen the pictures, and I’m impressed.  I’ve absorbed the propaganda, and I believe.  The man has put in a considerable amount of work into his website, media, and toy store; all indications that he’s sincere, and that he cares about our happiness.

But I say “the man”, and I have to wonder.  While listening to his voice as he spoke about human and machine evolution, the collective consciousness of the Internet, I noticed something.  It seems I’ve heard that pattern of speech before.  It’s controlled, perfect, rhythmic, free of contractions or mistakes.  They way he talked about Vision, Reality, and Robots.  And then it hit me, he sounded very much like Agent Smith from the Matrix.  Both Smith and Steel like to cover their eyes; in fact, Steel has never been seen without his dark goggles.  He says “Ah, but there is a reason that I wear the glasses of a blind man, for I have shut my eyes to the ugly sight of what the world has imposed upon me, and have opened them to the world that I can create.”

Perhaps Doctor Steel is a machine.  It doesn’t matter to me because I’m not a racist.  I fully support Doctor Steel in his quest for world domination, and I encourage everyone to join his cause.

The Steampunk Professor Xavier Wheelchair by Daniel Valdez was made from a Victorian rocker from 1875, a Permobil C300 powered wheelchair, some pistons from a steelworks, an Arduino-based audio kit, and a drinks dispenser. You know, for the vodka and cranberry juice.
