Communist Heathens!
I was right! As warned in my previous post, the Russian’s are proudly gearing up their Soviet attitudes, as evidenced in this year’s Victory Day parade. This Soviet veteran (along with his fellow comrades) was not only photographed at the celebration in Red Square, but he’s toasting with Vodka to honor the modern Russian military.

You see that patch on his arm? That’s CCCP (Союз Советских Социалистических Республик) along with the Soviet Union Navy ensign flag. Now why would he be toasting the (non-Soviet) Russian military? Hmmm…? Maybe his new comrades are “like minded”.
Seen in the parade photos are MiG-29 and Su-27 Fighters, Ilyushin Il-78 Tankers, Tu-95 and Tu-160 Bombers, Topol-M Missile Launchers, Msta-S Howitzers, T-90 Tanks, BTR-90 Infantry Fighting Vehicles, Ka-50 Attack Helicopters, Sprut-SD Tank Destroyers, and of course Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
Tons of great pictures from this years Victory Day parade.

Hi Dr Warthan,
You must have been kidding, really!
What else Military should the veteran toast?
The German Nazi Wehrmacht or the Kriegsmarine?
Imperial Russian, Soviet or non-Soviet, Red Army or modern Russian Army — all that is one and the same Army.
No difference!
The veteran in the photo salutes his brothers, sons and grandsons who served and continue to serve the Motherland, whatever name our country might bear: either the Russian Empire, or the Soviet Union, or the present-day Russian Federation.
Our beloved Motherland is always one and the same country — Holy Russia.
It is as simple as that.

It is a bit of tongue-in-cheek humor. In the USA, the “red scare” is long over, and it is the “red scare” that I’m making fun of; but at the same time, I am also reminding Americans that modern Russia is there. You should see the first Victory Day article I did:

In any case, as a US Marine veteran, I salute the old Russian veteran.
Why shouldn’t he wear that patch? Knock it off you goofball. They have every right to be proud of their past. What matters is that we have peace, not that we obsess over people’s history and events. Why don’t you complain about people in the American south proudly displaying the “stars and bars” all over the place? Sheesh.
a) its a veteran
b) his heoriuc deed probably date back to WW2
c) in WW2 it was CCCP
he is wearning the uniform of the navy he was member off.
Thats quiet normal. Dont get over excited about it.
Americans still replay their civil war every year… should boston now be
worried that texas will come over and teach them manners?
get a life.
